The Journey Of Gani & Tayub Group
IMMERSION
Tayub Usman Bilwani and Gani Diwan hailed from a small town named Bantva – located in Junagarh state – in India where they were running their business separately across India prior to the partition.
Gani Diwan was wedded to the eldest daughter of Tayub Bilwani, sharing a father-and-son-in-law relationship. In 1943, Mr. Diwan died at a young age with the will that his business be taken over by his father-in-law. Later, the business was handed over to his eldest son Haji A. Sattar, who managed it till 1947. After that, the family migrated to Pakistan and established the joint business in Karachi by the name of R.H. Gani, which dealt in food grains and Habib Cloth House as general merchants and fabric importers. Several branches were established in different wings of Pakistan including in Lahore, Chittagong, Chandpur, Haroonabad, Fort Abbas, Hasilpur and Sukkur.
